State and federal regulations set standards for the size and weight of commercial vehicles operated on public highways.  A commercial vehicle is any vehicle used for commerce that has a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more.  Commercial vehicles that exceed the established weight standards can receive state permits to travel along certain routes.  This issue brief discusses the regulation, permitting, and routing of oversize and overweight commercial vehicles.

This issue brief provides an overview of the aquatic nuisance species (ANS) program, and offers current data and statistics regarding ANS in Colorado.

This report contains the final audited figures for state revenue retained under Referendum C in the 2005‑06 through 2016‑17 state fiscal years and preliminary numbers for the 2017‑18 and 2018‑19 state fiscal years.  It also reflects the actions of the General Assembly and Governor in spending the money.  This report is prepared in accordance with the requirements of Referendum C approved by voters in 2005.

The financing of K-12 public education in Colorado over the past three decades has been affected by three constitutional amendments: the Gallagher Amendment, the TABOR Amendment, and Amendment 23.  Combined with the results of key court cases, these amendments have created a complex educational funding system for the General Assembly to negotiate.  Diminished tax revenue during recessionary periods has also contributed to the struggle for state and local governments to maintain consistent K-12 public education funding levels

In May 2018, the U.S.  Supreme Court found in Murphy v.  National Collegiate Athletic Association that the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (1992) violated the Tenth Amendment to the U.S.

This memorandum discusses tailpipe vehicle emission standards in the United States and the current regulations for light-duty vehicles. 

This memorandum provides an overview of broadband internet service programs in Colorado, including the Colorado High Cost Support Mechanism; state grant programs and other state efforts; local governments’ ability to provide broadband; and related recent legislation.

This memorandum provides information concerning occupational and professional licenses for military spouses, including reciprocity and other licensing mechanisms for military spouses in Colorado and other states, and federal efforts to address military spouse licensure.
