Colorado Probate Law (2016)

Probate is a general term referring to a court procedure by which a person's estate is transferred to others. In current usage, "probate" has been expanded to generally include all matters pertaining to administration of estates, including trust administration, guardianships, and conservatorships. This issue brief provides an overview of probate terminology and probate courts, and discusses probate procedures used in different situations.

Legislative Decision-Making and Colorado's Pension Plans (2013)

Like other states, Colorado offers retirement benefits to its employees through a variety of pension plans. The state's pension plans are established in law and include both employee and employer contributions, which are made in lieu of contributions to the federal Social Security program. The state's two public pension systems are the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) and the Fire and Police Pension Association (FPPA).

During the 2020 legislative session, the General Assembly passed several bills related to the regulation of banks and financial service entities and expanded the authority of the Attorney General to challenge mergers and acquisitions in certain circumstances.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the General Assembly also passed legislation prohibiting price gouging.

2023 Pension Review Commission and Subcommittee Final Report

Submitted herewith is the final report of the Pension Review Commission. This commission was created pursuant to Article 51.1 of Title 24, Colorado Revised Statutes. The purpose of the commission is to study and review the two major pension plans in the state – the Fire and Police Pension Association (FPPA) for police officers and firefighters employed by local governments and the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) pension for state and local government employees – in order to propose legislation and to report back to the legislature and general public.

2013 Economic Opportunity Poverty Reduction Task Force Final Report
